This year is a big deal for Jeep. The brand that’s synonymous with off-roading and adventure is celebrating its 70th anniversary and Jeep Bristol is celebrating, too. The brand was launched in 1941 and its vehicles quickly developed a reputation for ruggedness during World War II. Decades later, the brand is still beloved by 16-year-olds and 60-year-olds alike, and Jeep is celebrating that love with two new advertisements.

Chrysler has begun heavily promoting the extensively revamped 2011 Jeep Compass. Among the promotions centering around this compact crossover is a new ad developed by agency Wieden & Kennedy.
The ad highlights the Compass’ “legendary bloodline” and “iconic beauty.” Needless to say, the mission is to play up the brand equity of the Jeep brand, rather than focus on the product’s specific features. Considering the Compass has not been a hit with repeat Connecticut Jeep buyers to this point, this strategy may be a more successful one. [click to continue…]

“A New England winter can prove to be a harsh environment for most vehicles, but it’s the perfect setting for the all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee to showcase its all-weather capability,” said Mike Manley, president and CEO of Jeep. Which helps explain why Jeep’s all-new SUV was recently named “Official Winter Vehicle of New England” by the prestigious New England Motor Press Association (NEMPA).
It’s an important honor, because NEMPA, made up of media members from all six New England states, covers one of the biggest market areas in the U.S.—and one that is well known for its challenging winters. But that didn’t hamper the Grand Cherokee. [click to continue…]

Adding further evidence that the all-new Grand Cherokee is much more than just one of the most capable off-roaders in the U.S., the resurgent Jeep has now been recognized as “Urban Truck of the Year,” one of the prestigious “Urban Wheel Awards” given each year in the run up to the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
“While faithfully capturing the spirit of its predecessor, the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee is new and improved in every way,” said Lyndon Bell, editor-in-chief of Decisive Auto magazine, which collaborated with an independent panel of 15 automotive journalists in bestowing the honor. “The Jeep’s over-the-road dynamics easily rivals that of its competitors’ less capable crossover vehicles. Meanwhile, the Jeep is also perfectly proficient at traversing any terrain. Luxurious interior appointments—along with the fact that drivers aren’t penalized into accepting a lower trim level if they opt for the more fuel-efficient engine—speaks volumes to the way Jeep’s engineers and product planners incorporated 21st century realities into America’s most iconic SUV.” [click to continue…]
