The all-new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee promises to be much better than its predecessor. While it maintains its legendary Jeep rocking crawling abilities, the new Grand Cherokee is also more refined and more fuel-efficient than ever before.
But if you’re more interested in horsepower, don’t fret. While it’s not officially confirmed just yet, the folks at Car and Driver expect that the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 should debut within the next two years – and that’s good enough for us.
Powering the next-generation Grand Cherokee SRT is most likely a naturally aspirated 6.4-liter HEMI V8 producing as much as 525 horsepower. Rumors also suggest that Jeep aims to take the title of the word’s fastest SUV from the BMW X5 M – which sprints from 0-60 mph in just 4.0 seconds. The previous SRT model was no slouch either, Connecticut Dodge Jeep.
Until then, the upcoming Jeep Grand Cherokee will be powered by a new flexible fuel 280 horsepower Phoenix 3.6-liter V6 engine, which customers visiting a Hartford Jeep dealer admit is plenty of power. The unit will also boost the fuel-economy by as much as 11 percent. There will be a V8 option as well, a 5.7-liter HEMI that produces 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft. of torque.
