Adding further evidence that the all-new Grand Cherokee is much more than just one of the most capable off-roaders in the U.S., the resurgent Jeep has now been recognized as “Urban Truck of the Year,” one of the prestigious “Urban Wheel Awards” given each year in the run up to the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
“While faithfully capturing the spirit of its predecessor, the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee is new and improved in every way,” said Lyndon Bell, editor-in-chief of Decisive Auto magazine, which collaborated with an independent panel of 15 automotive journalists in bestowing the honor. “The Jeep’s over-the-road dynamics easily rivals that of its competitors’ less capable crossover vehicles. - Honored with an Automotive Excellence Award for Off-Road Ability by Popular Mechanics
- Named “SUV of Texas” and “Full-size SUV of Texas” by the Texas Auto Writers Association
- Picked as “Best SUV” by Ruedas ESPN
- Recognized as a “Top Safety Pick” by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS)
- Unanimously chosen as 2011 “Internet Truck of the Year”
But the best recognition of all is coming from today’s SUV shoppers: Almost 11,000 of them bought a Grand Cherokee in October alone, pushing sales up a whopping 256 percent over the same month last year!
